Hello World!

My love for food has shaped many a life decision.  Three weeks ago I relocated to San Francisco to start a job in haute pastry at one of the city’s premier fine dining restaurants.  What began as a chance response to a Craig’s List job ad turned out to be the start of a new and exciting adventure!

Thus I begin building  a new life one dish at a time.   Literally.  When I’m not plating up some of the most sophisticated sweets the city has to offer, I plan to eat my way through San Francisco’s finest establishments and lesser known neighborhood treasures rendering my humble yet honest opinion along the way.  Why should you care what I think?  Well, I suppose you shouldn’t.  I’m passionate about creating and consuming really great food and while I don’t consider myself a “foodie” (I’ve always found something rather snobbish about referring to oneself as such), I am a discerning diner with a decent culinary education and high expectations of who I give my hard earned money to.  Nothing irks me more than money spent on a subpar meal when there are endless options to satisfy even the most unique culinary cravings, especially when it’s paired with anything but stellar service. If you can relate, perhaps you’ll find my experiences helpful when making your own dining decisions.   I’ll also be cooking my way through an inspired selection of recipes from my beloved cookbook library in an attempt to build my recipe repertoire and ultimately prepare myself to launch a career as a patisserie owner.

In between recipes and restaurants, life certainly happens and I’m anxious to share my experience of redefining it in San Francisco.   I think you’ll find my adjustment to the city both humorous and endearing.

Cheers!
